Position Summary
This role involves providing contract management support to the Events, Live Production & Entertainment (LP&E), and Broadcasting Departments. Reporting to the Associate Counsel, Media & Events, the position will include drafting, research, contract analysis, and other projects, as needed, in support of a variety of commercial arrangements.
Major Responsibilities
- Review and draft a variety of agreements related to events conducted by the NBA, WNBA, and other affiliated leagues and properties (including venue, hotel, ticketing, technology licensing, work-for-hire, vendor and promoter agreements) and talent and performance agreements for high-profile live entertainment acts and other content (including musical artists, influencers, speakers and broadcasters)
- In coordination with NBA in-house attorneys, liaise with internal client teams to help advise on contract negotiations, ensure adherence to company policies, and provide support in connection with third-party arrangements and other business considerations
- Track and maintain records of commercial agreement term expirations and advise client teams on renewal and amendment process
- Oversee and manage two Legal Coordinators, including supervising and providing feedback on their work commercial agreements in support of internal client teams
- Work with the Legal Records Administrator on proper maintenance of Events, LP&E and Broadcasting contracts, including making sure all fully executed agreements are uploaded to centralized legal files
Required Education/Professional Experience
- Bachelor's degree or related work experience preferred (a J.D. is a plus but not required)
- Minimum of five (5) years of paralegal or comparable experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of people-management experience
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Word
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
- Experience independently drafting and supporting the negotiation of commercial agreements through execution, under attorney supervision
- Ability to handle highly confidential information discreetly and professionally
- Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks, learn new tasks and complete tasks in a deadline-oriented environment
Salary Range:
$130,000-$150,000
