We’re looking for an experienced compliance professional to join FanDuel’s newly created Finance Operations function.  This role will report to the Senior Finance Operations Manager in a hybrid role that will be based out of our New York City office.  In this role, the Regulatory Tax Manager will assist with satisfying all finance-related regulatory compliance obligations such as regulatory gaming tax matters, customer tax reporting and withholding matters, regulatory operational finance audits, and gaming regulator and partner relationship management.

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

 

THE GAME PLAN

  • Manage and coach a small but growing team (including Senior-level talent), providing guidance, performance feedback, and career development.
  • Oversee execution of all regulatory compliance processes tied to finance operations, including wagering/gaming tax, customer tax reporting & withholding (Forms 1099, 1042, W-2G), and regulatory audits.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of compliance deliverables by reviewing workpapers, models, and submissions prepared by your team.
  • Serve as primary liaison with regulators and external partners on operational compliance matters, escalating issues to the Sr Manager as needed.
  • Drive process improvements and scalable solutions across compliance workflows, leveraging digital tooling across automation, AI, and data analytics.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Finance, Advisory, Product, Tech) to ensure compliance is embedded into new initiatives, product launches, and regulatory responses.
  • Own business controls related to compliance within the SOX control environment, ensuring documentation, testing, and audit readiness.
  • Support strategic initiatives led by the Sr Manager and Finance leadership, including regulator relationship strategies and executive-level workstreams.

 

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • 5+ years of professional experience in tax, compliance, audit, or a related function in a highly regulated industry (e.g., gaming, banking, energy, telecom)
  • Prior people management or team lead experience
  • Proven ability to review and challenge complex analyses prepared by others, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Strong understanding of or willingness to rapidly develop expertise in information reporting and withholding (e.g. Form 1099, 1042, W-2G)
  • Skilled in building stakeholder relationships across internal functions and with regulators/partners
  • Data-driven mindset; experience overseeing the use of large datasets, models, and analytics to inform compliance decisions
  • Skilled at translating complex analyses into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders through strong visual, verbal, and written communication
  • Combines strong project ownership with the ability to resolve issues hands-on when needed

 

What would make our next teammate an all-star:

  • Advanced degree or professional tax/compliance certification (CPA, CRCM, or similar).
  • Experience with technology, gaming, legal, or sports/ media industry matters.
  • Experience with information reporting requirements and compliance execution.
  • Experience with SOX controls, public company reporting, or regulated audits.
  • Demonstrated success leading process automation, big data solutions, or compliance technology projects.
  • Skilled with advanced Excel, automation, data visualization, and SQL/analytics tools.

The applicable salary range for this position is $137,000 - $171,000 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
