Position Summary

Play a lead role in the ideation, creation and commercialization of key NBA Asia assets with special emphasis on the creation of the storytelling “Go to Market” materials. Work across all departmental and cross-functional teams to help reach, engage and ultimately monetize new and existing NBA Global and Regional assets

Major Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Head of Growth and Innovation on the creation of new commercial assets (E.g. NBACon, NBA House, NBA3X)
  • Work in conjunction with the Heads of Sponsorship and Licensing and their respective sales and partnership teams to develop world-class go to market materials to aid in New Business pitches, Upsells and Renewals
  • Act as a conduit with key HQ (New York) groups to gain shared learning and best practices. These groups include the HQ Global Marketing and Merchandising teams, our Marketing and Fan Research teams and the NBA Events Teams
  • Own the market and industry research components that will aid the sales teams with the knowledge they require to drive success
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the new global sales rollout and operational transition.
    • Assist the sales team in training across new global sellers (focus on NBA sales narrative Global, Young, Culturally Relevant). 
    • Create a centralized resource repository that can be leveraged globally, including internal sales materials to be used by all sellers (e.g., P+Ls/ proposals templates, outreach, case studies, etc.)
  • Educate the regional commercial teams on all sellable US and international assets/platforms.  Assets and platforms include US media (e.g., virtual signage), third-party implications (e.g., broadcast partners, emerging media)

Skills Required

  • A strong understanding of design theory, data-visualization, layout and creative storytelling
  • Ability to influence through visual communication and creative expertise
  • An innate understanding of brand and consumer marketing and how that relates to the NBA’s key value propositions
  • Strong relationship management skills both internally and externally (including with senior executives); ability to adapt to various personalities and working styles
  • Strategic thinker who is able to execute current strategy and identify areas of optimization/opportunity
  • Sharp eye for detail and high level of organization
  • Strong time-management and multi-tasking skills (will be working across multiple time zones)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent business writing and presentation s and design

Experience Needed

  • Minimum 8 years professional experience in relevant sports marketing field (marketing, advertising, account management, or brand management)
  • Brilliant storytelling skills through visual communication
  • Deep knowledge of MSFT Powerpoint and Adobe Creative Suites including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (Or comparable programs)
  • Knowledge of video editing and motion graphics
  • Successful experience in developing marketing and event strategies for clients and a strong understanding of marketing and promotions, including demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful marketing programs
  • Solid understanding of sponsorship activation including events, media, marketing rights, content, etc.
  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, self-starter with high energy and team spirit
  • Enjoys fast paced and challenging work environment
  • Deep understanding of basketball and the NBA brand is not mandatory but a big plus
